About

Benjamin P. Butera

Architect AIA, AR0008455

For over four decades Benjamin P. Butera, AIA, has created award‐winning, timeless architecture throughout the southeastern United States. His innovative style has produced living and working environments of one‐of‐a‐kind identity and value. Having experienced all measures of award, his firm continues to seek innovative architectural solutions for today’s design problems.

A native of New York, Benjamin P. Butera attended the New York Institute of Technology. He began his career cloistered in an office of 400 people where he worked on large commercial projects for the State of New York. As interesting as the work was, the Butera family grew weary of the bitter New York winters. He moved his family to Florida in 1978 where he was quickly discovered by ITT and became Staff Architect for their Palm Coast project.  With over 50 square miles and a projected population of 225,000, the project was the largest development on the east coast at the time.

The prospect of becoming part of the immense growth in Central Florida enticed Ben to begin his own practice, and he opened Benjamin P. Butera, Inc. in Orlando. The firm grew quickly, and soon his designs were becoming recognized throughout the area.  In order to get back to the ocean environment which brought him to Florida originally, Ben relocated his office to Ormond Beach in 1999.  His timeless architecture continues to shape the east coast of Florida and provide “the very best, for those who know better.”
